PHYSICIAN ADVISOR
MORRISTOWN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Morristown, NJ
Reporting to the Medical Director, Clinical Affairs, daily responsibilities will include educating, consulting and advising medical staff and care managers on issues relating to inpatient medical necessity determinations as well as completion of CMS and Managed Care appeals.
Qualifications: Board Certified MD and/or DO with proficient understanding of hospital services and ICD-9-CM, along with knowledge of Prospective Payment System. Must have active license in the state of New Jersey and 2+ years experience in an acute care hospital setting. Ideal candidate will have effective communication skills to develop positive relationships with physician colleagues coupled with technical skills (electronic medical record, computer software). Additionally, knowledge of InterQual and Milliman Criteria, Medicare Inpatient and Observation Requirements and Managed Care Appeals required.
