Statement by Marc J. Levine, MD, President of MSNJ on Use of e-Cigarettes

Thursday, September 12, 2019

“The Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ) joins with the American Medical Association and other public health authorities to urge New Jersey residents to discontinue the use of e-cigarette products until more is learned about the causes of vaping-related lung disease across the country. People should see their physician to access nicotine addiction treatment and referral to counseling services. In addition, the New Jersey Department of Health has a wealth of resources available to the public at https://www.tobaccofreenj.com/.

I encourage all physicians to be mindful of the significant increase in vaping-related lung disease and take the extra effort to urge their patients to discontinue the use of e-cigarette products at this time.”
