Statement by Marc J. Levine, MD, 227th President of MSNJ on Vaccine Exemptions

Friday, December 13, 2019

“The physician members of the Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ) applaud the action taken by the New Jersey Senate Health Committee to limit vaccine exemptions to only those persons with medical contraindications. This act will ensure the health and safety of all New Jersey residents.

Communicable diseases respect no boundaries. Those who are not vaccinated present a significant risk to our population as a whole. Medical science and prudent public health practice have proven that vaccines are safe and effective in limiting the spread of all vaccine-preventable diseases.

MSNJ applauds the sponsors of this legislation and the leadership of the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly for their continued stewardship and the protection of the greater public’s health.”
