Lawrenceville, N.J. – Philip E. Kline, MD was recently installed as the 228th President of the Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ) at a special virtual meeting on Sunday, June 14, 2020 for the society’s annual elections. Dr. Kline has served as a member of MSNJ’s Board of Trustees for more than five years in various positions, and will assume the presidency from Marc J. Levine, MD.

“As the medical profession experiences direct, significant impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever that MSNJ remain the voice for physicians across the state and help shape the healthcare landscape,” said Larry Downs, CEO of MSNJ. “I have no doubt that Dr. Kline is up to the task of spearheading our advocacy efforts through this challenging time. On behalf of MSNJ and our physician members, I congratulate Dr. Kline and welcome him to his new role as president.”

In outlining goals for this upcoming term, Dr. Kline shared his vision for the future of MSNJ as the healthcare industry and medical professions recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Healthcare as we know it will be forever changed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Kline. “As we look toward the immediate future, physician practices, hospital systems and all medical practices must evolve. In just a matter of months, we saw the increased acceptance and use of telehealth and telemedicine services. However, the staggering economic impact of the pandemic on physicians, practices and healthcare systems alike is something we never thought possible. Now, more than ever, we must look for opportunities to collaborate with all stakeholders – medical professionals, legislators, hospital administrators, insurance executives and patients – to address the unique challenges and identify opportunities to improve healthcare for all New Jersey residents.”

Dr. Kline is an obstetrician/gynecologist with more than three decades of experience and currently practices in Middlesex and Union Counties. In practice with the Obstetrical & Gynecological Group of Central Jersey, an affiliate of Lifeline Medical Associates, Dr. Kline’s clinical interests include general obstetrics and gynecology, infertility, adolescent health and gynecology and preventative women’s health care. He is fellow the New Jersey Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.

Dr. Kline is an executive committee member and immediate past president of the New Jersey Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. He also serves as an executive committee member of the Union County Medical Society and has previously served as president of that society.

Dr. Kline received his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University. He received his medical degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara School of Medicine in Guadalajara, Mexico. Dr. Kline completed his internship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey and Hackensack Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey.
